WiSE Science Communication Symposium

Mark your calendars for April 20, 2018!

The 3rd Annual CU Science Communication (SciComm) Symposium, presented by Women in Science and Engineering, will take place on Friday, April 20, from 9AM-7PM! 

The mission of SciComm is to promote effective science communication skills and showcase the amazing work being done by young STEM researchers at CU. The symposium will begin with two morning workshop sessions in Gold Biosciences (registration required), followed by afternoon presentations by CU students and postdocs, a panel discussion, and a keynote presentation in Eaton Humanities 150. We’ll wrap up the day with a reception at SiP!

SciComm Program:

9-11:30 am: Workshop: Science Journalism Inside & Out* with Rae Ellen Bichell (Gold B121)
9:30-11:30 am: Workshop: Science Storytelling & Social Media* with Lindsay Diamond, PhD (Gold A450)
11:30-12:30 pm: Lunch for workshop attendees (Gold A120)
12:30-1 pm: Break

Afternoon program will take place in Eaton Humanities 150.
1 pm: Symposium welcoming remarks
1:05 pm: Student presentations
1:50 pm: Panel discussion
3:10 pm: Break
3:25 pm: Student presentations
4:15 pm: Keynote: “Climate Change, Comic Books and Becoming a Better Scientist through Storytelling,” Dr. Shane Campbell-Staton
5:15 pm: Concluding remarks

5:30 pm: Closing reception (SiP, 2810 E. College Ave.)
